A good book that could be improved by putting many more pictures with dimensions and case powder area's - some dimensions do exist but not enough.
A perfect book for the gun nut, reloader, or for a reference reader. I had read more than one incredible reviews about this book so I grabbed a copy to see for myself. Excellent texts, detailing every aspect of the cartridges and hundreds of drawings and photos. Civilian, military, obsolete, blackpowder, metric, any and all cartridges. You won't be disappointed.
Although published in 2006, this edition is still very useful because it contains precise dimensional drawings for each cartridge.Buy it before it disappears from the market.
For the most part, the cartridges unlisted can be considered "Military grade" but they can still be acquired legally on the civilian market. But one fact that bothered me while reading is that the units used to denote different measurements are not marked. When reading through this book, I found much of the information to be quite helpful. An alright book that takes on the massive undertaking of gathering up information on the world's plentiful ammunition cartridges, I feel that this book overlooked some very important and common cartridges. At first I was thrown off by this, as I am used to the metric SI standard, rather than the Imperical Standard of measurements. Another fact that irked me, but wouldn't stop me from buying the book, was that certain cartridges are unlisted in this book, some very old and others radical and new. I hope that in a later edition, said problems would be fixed. Beyond that, this book is a good reference for any gun hobbyists out there.
Perfect reference piece for the firearms historian, reloader or shooter. This book will tell you more than you ever wanted to know about cartridge use and development. Reloaders will appreciate the load data and ballistics information. I highly recommend this book.
